About Tim Herrera
Media has been my life’s work—and my passion. For more than four decades, I’ve dedicated myself to the art of storytelling and the science of communication. My journey began in journalism, where I spent 22 years in television and radio broadcasting, reporting and anchoring in markets like Dallas-Fort Worth, Pittsburgh, and Sacramento. At KCRA-TV, I was honored with 14 journalism awards, a testament to my commitment to delivering accurate, impactful stories that resonate.
Public service through communication. Beyond the newsroom, I’ve served in key communications roles across California’s public sector. For 17 years, I led strategic messaging as Communications Director for the Sacramento County Office of Education, earning the title of School Communicator of the Year from CalSPRA in 2017. I’ve also held pivotal positions within the California Departments of Consumer Affairs and Conservation, helping shape public understanding and trust.
Author, educator, and coach. As a published author, freelance writer, and college instructor in writing and communications, I’m passionate about helping others discover their voices. Whether you're preparing for a keynote, refining your presentation skills, or simply seeking to connect more effectively, I offer personalized coaching to help you speak with confidence and clarity.
